Mailahn, Carl F., age 69, passed away on 16 June in town Richmond after an illness of only a few days of influenza. The deceased came here from Germany in 1873. In 1876 he married his surviving wife, Auguste Ringel and together they had ten children, of which nine are still living. The are: Mrs Otto Regling, August Mailahn, Mrs Chas Seering, Mrs David Meisner, Fritz Mailahn, Mrs Ed Springborn, Mrs Ewald Eggert, Mrs Paul Eggert and Rudolph Mailahn.

The deceased was sickly many years but still kept going. He was in Shawano only a few days before his death. He was a brave old German, a pioneer from Shawano County who labored hard for what he had today. He was a good husband, father and neighbor and will long be remembered by those who knew him.

The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon from the home and then from St Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Stuth officiating.
