Luther V. Cromer, 83, of Redwood Drive, Carlisle, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at his home.
Born on June 11, 1922, in Dillsburg, he was a son of the late George and Alice Williams Cromer.
He retired in 2001 from the Cumberland County Transportation Authority, and also was a mechanic for Central Garage, Seven Star Garage and Graham Buick. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Cavalry Road Church of God, Carlisle. He was also a member of the Cumberland County Honor Guard, the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Carlisle and American Legion Post 101 of Carlisle. He was an avid hunter and loved woodworking.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Irene H. Johnson Cromer; two daughters, Shirley A. Wagner and husband Barney, and Caroline I. Morrison and husband Barry, all of Carlisle; a sister, Eva R. Cromer, Dillsburg; seven grandchildren, Brian D. Goodhart of East Berlin, Kenneth B. Wagner of New Kingstown, Cory S. Wagner of Gerardville, Lori L. Henry of Mt. Joy, Angela C. Cutchall of Carlisle, Sally A. Mixell of Boiling Springs and Jenny E. Lehman of Fremont, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbert, Gilbert and John Cromer; and a sister, Thelma Shambaugh.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Jeffery A. Blackburn officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, with military honors conducted by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
