Flaude Marie Meister, 87 of Winamac, Ind., passed away June 14, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in La Porte. She was born June 17, 1921 in La Porte, the daughter of Justice LeOtto and Marie C. (Brettin) Stephens.

On Sept. 29, 1956 in Walkerton, Ind.. she married John Meister who preceded her in death, April 10, 1985.

Flaude was a 1939 Union Mills High School graduate and a member of AARP. Flaude was a die cut operator for American Rubber in La Porte, retiring in 1986 after 31 years of service.

Surviving is a daughter, Gladys (Happy) Briggs of Ormond Beach, Fla., a son, Irvin Warner of Puyallup, Wash., and a son, John Meister of La Porte; plus six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Charlotte Sly of Union Mills and Alice Muir of Wyoming and a brother, Charles Stephens of Vicksburg, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a stepdaughter, two brothers and two sisters.

Flaude was an active member of the Winamac United Methodist Church. She was an avid fisherman and loved planting a vegetable garden and her flower beds were full of color in the summer.

A Memorial Celebration service was held at Newhard Funeral Home, 58 W. Walnut, Westville.
