Mrs. Ruth M. Kimball, 83, of La Porte, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at 12:25 p.m. at LaPorte Hospital.

She was born Aug. 27, 1924, in Clinton Township, LaPorte County, to Justis and Marie (Berttin) Stephens, and had lived in the area all her life.

Mrs. Kimball had been a machine trimmer at American Rubber Products for 25½ years until her retirement. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and Disabled American Veterans, Carmel League. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, making crafts for it; volunteered at her church, and made school bags for Lutheran World Relief.

She loved life and gardening and liked to cook, bake, can and freeze.

On Oct. 20, 1946, in Wanatah, she married Wilmer C. Kimball, who died in 1989. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Katherine Stephens; and one brother, George Stephens.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald A. of New Buffalo, Mich., and Randall L. of La Porte; three sisters, Alice Muir of Greeley Colo., Flaude Meister of La Porte and Charlotte Sly of Union Mills; and one brother, Charles Stephens of Vicksburg, Mich.

The funeral was held at Bethany Lutheran Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating.
