Arlene F. Truskey, 95, of 40 Mountain Road, Catawissa, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center where she had been a patient for two days. She had been hospitalized on several occasions in the past month.
Born Nov. 4, 1919, in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Edna Ande Arnwin.
Arlene worked for Bell Telephone in Danville, and Emenee Shirt Factory, retiring in 1972. She had her own restaurant in Andrea Theater, Catawissa,
She was a very active member, when able, of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church in Slabtown, helping with the carnival, and was a former member of the Catawissa Garden Club.
Arlene enjoyed crafts, sewing, knitting, reading and bingo. She liked baking and won third place in the bicentennial bread division.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Truskey, who died in 1987, ending a marital span of 45 years. She also was preceded in death by two sisters: Beatrice Jenkins and Vera Hinkle; and a brother, Harold Arnwin.
She is survived by a son, Paul L. Truskey, and his wife, Linda, of Chantilly, Va.; a daughter, Elaine Yeick, and her husband, Stanley, of Catawissa; four grandchildren: Ed, Brian, Bill, and Sue; four great-grandchildren: Josh, Jake, Samantha and Brooke; and a brother, Al Arnwin, and his wife, Ellen, of Orangeville.
At the request of the deceased, private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Slabtown.
