WW II veteran was Kawneer employee
Harold F. Arnwine, age 83, of Bloomsburg died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he had been admitted Saturday evening.
He was the son of the late Charles and Edna (Ande) Arnwine. He attended Styer's one-room school in West Hemlock Township and was a 1942 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps in World War II. He flew 62 missions as an enlisted bombardier in the 310th Bombardment Group, most in support of the Battle of the Brenner Pass. Harold retired from Kawneer in 1988 after 20 years of employment.
Harold was a member of the American Legion and the 57th Bomb Wing Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening, crossword puzzles and sports.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, the former Gloria Greenly; children: Douglas H. (Donna) Arnwine, Ellen (Franz) Messerschmidt, Kevin (Gina) Arnwine and Alex (Elizabeth) Arnwine; grandchildren: Eric (Janina) Arnwine, Karl and Julia Messerschmidt, Katherine and Sean Arnwine and James Kosinski; a great-granddaughter: Dalana Arnwine; a sister: Arlene Truskey and a brother: Allen Arnwine. Harold was preceded in death by two sisters: Beatrice Jenkins and Vera Hinkle.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
