MRS. MYERS IS DEAD, AGE 85
Franklin Resident Until Three Months Ago Passes at Martinsville; Rites Here
Mrs. Mary Jane Campbell Myers, age 85, who lived in Franklin until three months ago, died early Sunday morning at her home in Martinsville. Death resulted from pneumonia which followed a fractured left hip. She was the widow of John Myers.
Funeral services will be held at the Vandivier funeral parlors in Franklin at 10:00 Tuesday morning, with Rev. Glenn Tudor, pastor of the Martinsville Christian church in charge. Burial will be made in Greenlawn cemetery here.
Mrs. Myers was born in Marietta, O., on June 28, 1857, the third child and eldest daughter of eleven children born to Clinton and Minerva Flint Campbell. After her marriage she came to Johnson county with her husband and spent most of her life since that time in this community.
In her girlhood, Mrs. Myers united with the Methodist church and took part in its activities until impaired hearing prevented her from continuing.
She had been in failing health the past two years and bedfast for six months following a fall. Early in February, she was taken from her home in Franklin to the Martinsville sanitarium cottage.
Surviving are a son, W. A. Kennedy; two daughters, Mrs. Chenowith and Mrs. Loral Hendrickson of Franklin; 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Olive Poling, of North Dakota; one brother, Edward Campbell, of Pensacola, Fla. A daughter, Mrs. Charles C. Pruitt, of the Franklin vicinity, preceded her mother in death in 1923.
Mrs. Myers' chief interest had always been in her home and family. She was devoted to her relatives and they, in turn, received constant inspiration from her keen enjoyment of life, her courageous spirit, and her unfailing cheerfulness and optimism.
