Both Nellie and her husband (married about 1836) died after 1880, as they are seen in both the 1870 and 1880 censuses living in Haralson Co., GA, with some of their children.
She and her husband's burials here are presumed since four of their children are known to be buried here and they were last seen residing here with and/or next to two of them.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There has been a huge issue with the research of this family. Most of the birth years are wrong in the research I have seen from others. Also, everyone has Nellie's death date as 1859, which is impossible, because she is found in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses with her husband, John, and their family. Perhaps the issue arose from the fact that they moved to Haralson County, GA, around this time. Also, John and Nellie had one more child after 1859, Penelope Elizabeth "Betty" (Houston) Deering.
John & Nellie had 11 children:
Cynthia Mary (Houston) Dodson (~1838-1927)
Jesse Houston (1839-1917)
Hugh W. Houston (~1842- ? - may have died in the Civil War)
Dallas Nicey (Houston) Backus (1844-bet 1912/1919)
Elmira (or Almira) Houston (~1848-?)
David Oliver Houston (1847-1904)
Laura T. Houston (1852-1922) confirmed - never married
Francis "Fannie" Mae (Houston) Deering (1854-1946)
Joseph Andrew Houston, Sr. (1857-bet. 1920/1925)
John D. Houston (~1859-?)
Penelope Elizabeth "Betty" (Houston) Deering (1862-1912)
