Ephraim Whitener was the son of Benjamin Whitener and Mary Magdalena Whisenhunt Whitener. He had 9 sisters and 5 brothers. April 22, 1817 Jacob Shuford was appointed guardian to Ephraim Whitener, orphan of Benjamin Whitener deceased, and approved by the court. January 1822 Jacob Shuford, the guardian of Ephraim Whitener, relinquished his guardianship, as Ephraim Whitener was of age to choose his own guardian and chose John Baker as his guardian. April 3, 1819 John Yoder, MIchael Cline, and Daniel Shuford were appointed by the court to divide the lands of Philip Whitener, Joseph Whitener, David Whitener, and Ephraim Whitener (the four youngest sons of Benjamin Whitener) amongst them which said land they claimed as Tenants in Common by the Last Will and Testament of Benjamin Whitener deceased. Ephraim's share was 76 acres.
