On the stone it has his death date and 76y 5m 3d. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church September 28, 1816. Joseph was the son of Benjamin Whitener and Mary Magdalena Whisenhunt Whitener. Joseph married Mary (Polly) Cline April 27, 1824 in Lincoln Co. Joseph wrote his will Feb 12, 1866 and it was probated January 24, 1873 in Cat. Co. In it he mentions sons, Hosea, John, and Marcus, and Emeline Whitener so called, a child we raised. Hosea and John were his executors. Joseph and Mary are buried at Salem Lutheran and United Church of Christ in Lincoln Co.
