Little is known of Sarah. Some say she married, others say not. One family member wrote her remembrance of Sarah as follows: "Our beloved 'Sissie', Miss Sarah Jane Sproles, older sister of Margaret Anne Sproles Chavis Alexander. Was never known to do or say anything unkind. Her life was dedicated to caring for her parents and younger sisters and brothers, their children and grandchildren, and she was adored by all. She saw her only three brothers march away to war, two to be killed and one returned in broken health to not live long. She was never heard to complain and was a true Christian. Sarah lived in Holmes County with her sister Margaret Anne Sproles Chavis Alexander until death in Durant with a heart attack about 1906, aged 72. Buried at Macedonia Cemetery, Holmes County, Mississippi."
