William Earnest WRIGHT Dies After Long Illness -- Earnest WRIGHT, 68, pioneer Checotah resident and retired member of the local fire department, died at his home here last Friday night after a long illness.
Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. Samuel HARLAN, pastor, officiating, assisisted by Judge H. B. REUBELT. Burial was in the Checotah cemetery under the direction of Powers Funeral home.
He was a former cowboy in Indian Territory days. He retired in 1927 after serving 23 years as janitor of Checotah schools. He came to Indian Territory in 1887 from Indiana at the age of 15, and moved to Checotah area in 1893.
Pallbearers were Charles PENROSE, H. H. PENROSE, N. L. PUGH, Sam CRABTREE, Judge WRIGHT, and Doc NEWCOMER.
He is survived by the widow, Lizzie CRABTREE WRIGHT, two daughters, Mrs. C. O. PENROSE of Tulsa and Miss. Lena HUGHES of Checotah; three sisters Mrs. Henry SHARP of Corinth, Mississippi, Mrs B. A. DAVIS of Galveston, Texas and Mrs M. A. BUTZ OLNEY of Oklahoma. Two brothers, Clarence and Cassius WRIGHT of Riverside, California. Two grandsons and one daughter.

1920, William Earnest WRIGHT, age 46, was in Checotah, McIntosh County, Oklahoma, with his wife, Elizabeth, daughter, Minnie and stepdaughter, Lena HUGHES. He was working as a school janitor.
1930 William Earnest WRIGHT, age 55, was in Checotah, McIntosh County, Oklahoma, with his wife, Lizzie, his daughter, Agnes and his stepdaughter, Lena HUGHES.
