John Dean (March 1, 1812 - April 15, 1884) John, like four of his ten brothers stayed in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was a successful farmer, community leader and staunch Christian. He and his wife were truly blessed with ten children. His wife pictured right, Sarah Jane Crawford (called Sally), was born in Philadelphia on December 24, 1813, after her parents James Crawford and Margaret Hamilton Gillis arrived in America from Tyrone, Ireland 1813. She met her husband, John, in Brandonville, Preston County, West Virginia at the Methodist Episcopal Church Schoolhouse. The schoolhouse was a meeting place at her family home about 10 miles from John Dean's family farm in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. John and his wife were some of the first founders of the Sansom Chapel (Methodist Episcopal) built in Farmington 1857. Both John and Sally are buried in the cemetery. Sally lived a decade more than her husband before giving up the ghost on December 14, 1896. Their children:
