Nellie Lucille Johnson, lovingly known by everyone as "Grami", age 85, of Mineola, died Wednesday morning, May 21, 2014. She was born to the late Looney and Ethel Hamilton, July 2, 1928 in Troup, Texas. Lucille graduated Valedictorian from Troup, an honor which she held dear. Lucille married the love of her life John C. Johnson, on January 20, 1945. Lucille was a charter member of Freedom Baptist of Mineola where she attended faithfully until her health took its toll. She loved her church and her church family. Grami made a difference anywhere she was, you never forget her warm smile and loving eyes. Lucille's battle with dementia was a very hard battle for her. Her unwavering faith in God, the support and prayers of her family, friends and church family carried her through the last couple of years.
Lucille is preceded in death by her husband John C. Johnson; parents; brothers, Robert, Russell, Earl, James, Frank, Dan, and Glenn Hamilton; sisters, Inez Martin, Earlene Hamilton, Odell Nesbitt and Birdie Knight and one grandchild, Christopher Johnson.
Lucille is survived by her children, Al and Susie Dusek of Mineola, Johnny and Della Johnson of Troup. She is also survived by her brother Jack and Gladys Hamilton of Troup, her three grandchildren Ali Dusek of Mineola, Curtis Johnson of Azle, Jad and Alison Dusek of Mineola, and one great grandson, Orion Kilpatrick of Van; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 1:00 PM officiated by Al Dusek. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery in Troup.
