She was born Jan. 9, 1921, to Delbert and Etta Mae (Horner) Smock in Loyalton, S.D. In 1932, the family moved to Wirt, Minn. It was there she met and married Deloss Charles "Bud" Guderian in November 1939. They moved to a little shack in the woods where she became the cook for a logging camp. Waking up to an unseasonable snowfall one June morning, they packed up and moved to California where they lived in a tent and picked fruit for the summer. They returned to northern Minnesota that fall, where she worked alongside her husband in the woods, sometimes driving truck or loading pulp and bundling wood. In 1949, she helped build the house they lived in for many years. She kept a big garden and enjoyed bird hunting, fishing and bowling.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Ernie) Shull of Northome; sons, Mickey Guderian of Northome, James (Linda) Guderian of Gemmell, Minn., Allen (Linda Mayo) Guderian of Deer River, Minn., Daryl (Terry) Guderian of Gemmell, and Brian (Caroline) Guderian of Brooklyn Center, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, William Dickerson, Franklin Dickerson, Chuck Dickerson, Henry Smock, Delbert Smock and Ernie Smock; and sisters, Edna Smock, Veletta Smock and Lynette Mackey.
