HIBBING — Funeral services for Delbert “Junior” Smock, 72, of Hibbing, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 at the Hibbing Open Door Ministries Church with the Rev. Roland Weaver officiating. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 26 from 5-7 p.m. at the Range Funeral Hibbing and will continue Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at the church. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
He died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at his home. He was born Nov. 6, 1929 to Delbert and Etta Mae (Hardy) Smock in Loyalton, S.D. The family moved to Wirt and Northern Minnesota when he was a young boy. They moved to Hibbing in the early 1940s. He worked at Hardy’s as a janitor. He was united in marriage to Patsy Davis on July 14, 2000 in Hibbing. He loved to play baseball and enjoyed family gatherings. He will be sadly missed by his family.
He is survived by six sisters: Mabel Oyler of Oakdale, Calif.; Claribel Guderian of Northome; Opal (Roy) Mackey of Hibbing; Melva (Richard) Kurpierz of Hibbing; Mavis (Franklin) Grebenc of Inverness, Fla.; and Patricia (Harry) Hilliard of Panacea, FL; three brothers: William Dickerson of Oakdale, Calif.; Henry (Martha) Smock of Burnsville; Glen (Carol) Smock of Oakdale, Calif; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patsy; three sisters: Edna, Lynette and Veletta; three brothers: Frank, Chuck and Ernie.
