U.S. veteran, Ernest Boyd Dennis, 87, of Aurora, Arkansas, died April 19, 2014, at his home.

He was born March 24, 1927 in Aurora, the son of Sidney Eugene and Edna Arilda Cain Dennis.

He was a retired farmer, a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army, and a member of Hayes-Smith Post #137, American Legion in Huntsville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velda Grace Perkins Dennis, on May 6, 2005. He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Coyt Dennis, Cecil Dennis, Calvin Dennis. and Norman Dennis; and by two sisters, Vay McCollough and Velma Hayes.

Survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Sharon Dennis of Purdy; Dale and Mary Dennis and Tim Dennis, all of Aurora; three sisters, Sharon K. Myers of Aurora, Vercie Reynolds and
Vivian Bowman, both of Huntsville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Reverend David Harrison officiating.

Interment was in the Aurora Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville. Pallbearers were: Bryan Carson, David Deaton, Brent Myers, Joe Johnson, Jeff Myers and Ronnie Dennis. Honorary pallbearer was Gene Dennis.

The family received friends on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
