Belonger

Robert N. Belonger, 72, of 1719-18th St., Two Rivers, a World War I veteran and retired longtime employe of Mirro Aluminum Co., died early Friday morning at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. He had been in ill health for more than a year.


Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Klein and Stangel, Inc. Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at St. Luke Catholic Church, the Rev. Richard Meneau, a nephew, officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.


Robert Belonger was born Sept. 13, 1895, at Coleman, a son of the late Peter and Delia Dupuis Belonger. The family moved to Two Rivers in 1916 and Mr. Belonger became employed by the Mirro firm. He retired seven years ago.


He married the former Cecilia Beth at Two Rivers Oct. 14, 1919, after serving in the Army in World War I. She died in 1931. He then married the former Mrs. Catherine Tomchek Sept. 3, 1938. She preceded him in death Nov. 23, 1968. He was a member of St. Luke Holy Name Society, Two Rivers Aerie of Eagles and Robert E. Burns Post 165, American Legion.


Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Orrin (Beatrice) Baugniet and Mrs. Harold (Celestine) Brice of Two Rivers: a step-son, Francis Tomchek of Fond du Lac; seven sisters, Mrs. John Hurley and Mrs. Francis Schaden of Two Rivers, Sister M. Cyprian and Sister M. Frances Theresa of Indiana.

Mrs. Vladimir Kunz of Francis Creek, Mrs. Edwin Niespodziany of Manitowoc and Mrs. George Hostetler of Stockbridge; three brothers, Isadore, Clarence and Harry of Two Rivers; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.


Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday where memorial services will be at 7:45 p.m.

At St. Luke's Church last Tuesday morning, Mr. Robert Belonger and Miss Cecelia Beth were married by Rev. Father Hugo. The attendants were Willard Belonger and Miss Dorothy Beth, Ray Beth and Miss Adeline Belonger.

In the presence of relatives and friends, Robert Belonger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Belonger and Miss Cecelia Beth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John K. Beth, plighted their troth before the holy marriage altar at St. Luke's church Tuesday morning, Rev. Father Hugo said the ceremony. Attending the bride and groom were Willard Belonger and Miss Dorothy Beth and Ray Beth and Miss Adeline Belonger. The rest of the day was devoted to feasting and social enjoyment at the home of the bride.
