"Mrs. Bridget Theresa (Brennan)Esslinger, 78, of 1815 E. Jefferson St. was dead on arrival at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Hospital. She was a lifetime resident of Springfield, the daughter of Thomas J. and Ellen Walsh Brennan. Her husband, Henry, died in 1936. Mrs. Esslinger was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Surviving are two sons, John H. of St. Louis, Arthur F. of Springfield, five sisters, Mrs. Mary Hagele, Mrs. Ellen Russell, Miss Margaret C. Brennan, Miss Elizabeth Brennan, and Mrs. Jeanette Utterback, all of Springfield; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Irvin R. Will will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body is at Kirlin and Egan Funeral Home."

Bridget married Henry Leo Esslinger 25 Oct 1911 at the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield. After the birth of their son Arthur they divorced and he later remarried. Bridget remained single but lived surrounded by her loving Brennan family and her two sons.
