Found in The State 07 February 1961: Jay G. Rowell, 75, of 806 Simpson Street, Cayce, died Monday morning at the Lakeside Rest Home after an illness of the past several months. He lived in Cayce for the past 30 years where he was a member of the Taylor Street Baptist Church. Survivors include one half-sister, Mrs. G. S. Friday of Columbia; two half brothers, J. W. Scott of Columbia and Major Scott of Cayce, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon from Thompson Funeral Home, by the Rev. B. B. Watts. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
