Per his death certificate found on Ancestry.com: he was a son of J. G. Rowell and Donnie Lee Scott. He was single. He died at the Lakeside Rest Home of cerebral thrombosis due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease and advanced cerebral arteriosclerosis. The informant was his niece, Mrs. Irene M. Keeler of 2740 Kiawah Ave., in Columbia, S. C.

Conflict: his death certificate has his middle name as Gold. His WWI Draft Registration Card and Columbia City Directories has it as above.

S. , Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007, a collection found on Ancestry.com: Jay Gould Rowell, son of Dove Rowell and Dona Kemp, DOB 4 Oct 1881 in Barnwell Cou, SC (note the conflict of his DOB with that on his WWI Draft Registration Card which is the DOB used for this memorial).

Found in The State 07 February 1961: Jay G. Rowell, 75, of 806 Simpson Street, Cayce, died Monday morning at the Lakeside Rest Home after an illness of the past several months. He lived in Cayce for the past 30 years where he was a member of the Taylor Street Baptist Church. Survivors include one half-sister, Mrs. G. S. Friday of Columbia; two half brothers, J. W. Scott of Columbia and Major Scott of Cayce, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon from Thompson Funeral Home, by the Rev. B. B. Watts. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

I have searched Section J several times and I can not locate a marker for him.
