Per her death certificate found on Ancestry.com: she was a daughter of William Kemp, born in England, and unnamed mother. She was a widow at the time of her death and her spouse is not named. She died at her home at Ellisor Hill of thrombosis of the coronary artery due to arteriosclerosis. The informant was J. W. Scott of 1818 Pendleton St., Columbia, S. C.

Most likely her: she can be found on the 1880 US Census for Blackville, Barnwell, SC at age 17, enumerated as Dony, living with Kemp Kemp, 50, Thomas, 25, and Henry, 24. She was born in SC. Note: the death certificate for her brother, Henry N. Kemp, Richland Co., SC, 1918, lists his parents as Jas. and Martha Kemp.

She can be found on the 1910 US Census for Ward 3, Columbia, Richland, SC at age 40, enumerated as Donie Scott, living with Jay Gould Rowell, 22, Walter Scott, 17, and Mamie Scott, 16. She is an agent for the Fancy Goods Co. She is the mother of 6 with 5 living.

Found in The State 24 January 1947: Mrs. Donie Elizabeth Scott, 81, widow of James Daniel Scott, died at 12:10 Thursday morning at her home in Cayce, after an illness of several months. She was formerly of Barnwell county, but had lived in this vicinity for the past 25 years. She was a member of the Baptist church. Mrs. Scott is survived by two daughters, Mrs. G. A. Friday of Columbia and Mrs. J. W. McDonald of Coyce; three sons, J. W. Scott of Columbia, M. D. Scott of West Columbia and J. G. Rowell, a son by a former marriage, of Cayce; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 this morning from the Thompson funeral home, the Rev. J. H. Eaddy, pastor of Green Street Methodist church, officiating. Interment will following Elmwood cemetery.
