Mrs. R.T. Sparks, resident of Denton County for 42 years, died suddenly Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Millard Chapman, in Iowa Park, where she been visiting the past three weeks. The body was brought here Saturday and is being held at the Shepard Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock by the Rev. J. L. Griffith, Methodist minister, assisted by the Rev. H.M James of Hennessey, Okla., a son-in-law. Burial will be made in the City Cemetery.


Mrs. Sparks is survived by six children, several of whom made their homes here, and since the death of her husband here about five years ago she has made her home among children here and at other places. She was the sister of G.B. Collins, a former resident, who will be remembered here by many early residents, now of Betharry, Okla., of D.F. Collins of Bethany, and Mrs. H.L. Brown, Wichita, Kan.


The children, who are all here for the funeral, include Stephen, Frank and Raymond Sparks, all of Denton; Ruth George of Sanger: Amanda Lange and Milbra Chapman of Iowa Park. Three stepchildren also survive, who are: Mrs. Olia James of Hennessy; Mrs. Ethel Gibbons of Argyle and T.L. Sparks of Denton. Thirty-five grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive.


Mrs. Sparks before her marriage, Miss Ruth Isabelle Collins, was born in Howell County, Mo., Feb 3, 1863 the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. J.B. Collins. She came to Texas with her family in 1883, and on Jan 27, 1889, was married to Robert Thomas Sparks. Of the eight children born to the couple, two died in infancy. Mrs. Sparks was a member of the Methodist Church.
