SANFORD – Emile O. Letourneau, 82, of 126 High Street, died Saturday at his home.

A lifelong resident of Sanford, he was born in Tingwick, Québec, on September 9, 1908 while his parents Olivier and Angelina Charette Letourneau were vacationing there.

He attended Sanford schools.

Letourneau was employed at the former Goodall-Sanford Textile Mill until its closing in 1954. He later became a self-employed carpenter.

He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

His wife, Flora McGrath Letourneau, died in February 1990.

Survivors are five brothers, Arthur, John-Paul, Olivier "Pete", Alphonse and Noel; and two sisters, Jeannette Letourneau and Mrs. Leo (Cecile) Bernier, all of Sanford.

A funeral Mass will be said at 9am Tuesday at Holy Family Church. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery.

Calling hours are today from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the LaFrance Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
