Mrs. DOWDEN was the daughter of Levi and Rhoda Jane (CARPENTER) NICHOLSON, and was 79 years of age at the time of her death. She was born near Scotland.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Scotland Methodist church, with Rev. S. E. STROUD officiating. He was assisted by Rev. HAWKINS. Burial was in the Scotland Cemetery.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. HAWKINS, Mrs. Ina RENNARD, Frank DOWDEN, James Ralph DOWDEN, Elmer DOWDEN, and Mrs. Hazel WENZ, all of Indianapolis; Wilbert L. DOWDEN, of Elnora, and John C. DOWDEN, Mrs. Emma HUGUNIN and Clarence D. DOWDEN, all of Scotland. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Leah BRIDGES, of Bloomfield; 32 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. Her husband, James J. DOWDEN, preceded her in death.
