HERMAN PAGEL

Herman Pagel, 86, of 18 N. State St., Chilton, died at Calumet Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Pagel, who was ailing for five years, had been hospitalized 3 ½ weeks. Prior to that he had been making his home for six months with a daughter, Mrs. Walter Jaeger, in New Holstein.

A son of the late John and Rose Pagel, he was born in the Town of Rantoul, Feb. 19, 1875. He moved with his parents to a Town of Charlestown farm in 1884. He married Emma Kind in Chilton, Nov. 4, 1904, following which the couple operated the Pagel home farm until 1944 when they retired and moved to Chilton. Mr. and Mrs. Pagel observed their golden wedding in 1954.

Mr. Pagel was a charter member of the Eagles Club in Chilton, the GUG Germania Society and served for 12 years on the council of Ebenezer Evangelical and Reformed Church, Chilton.

Surviving are his wife; four sons, John, Arno and Herman, of Chilton and Theodore of New Holstein; the one daughter, Mrs. Jaeger (Olive) of New Holstein, 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A daughter preceded him in death.

Services were at Ebenezer Church in Chilton with Rev. Q. M. Moeschberger officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery.
