William Chambers Dicken, son of Jonathan Charles and Mary Linton (Chambers) Dicken, was born in Pittsburg, Pa., Jan. 24, 1866. He graduated from Central High School in Pittsburg, PA in 1885. He studied law in office of his father and was an 18892 alumni of Amherst College. He was admitted to the bar and by 1892 to superior Court. William practiced civil law alongside his father and also was a partner in the firm Dicken & Farneth.

His future wife Emma Beckert was working at the courthouse. Impressed by her penmanship, he asked to meet her. They married on December 17, 1908 and had two children. William Chambers Dicken died of bronchial pneumonia at his home in Pittsburgh, Pa., on March 6, 1920.
