George William Erp, 86, died last Friday at the home of his son, Elmer Erp of Ruth. He had been in declining health for some time.

A lifelong resident of this county, Mr. Erp was born June 6, 1869, the son of the late Sid Haley and Jane Hargis Erp. He married Mollie Goodin and three children were born to this union. Mrs. Erp preceded him in death.

Mr. Erp professed his faith in Christ at an early age and united with the New Hope Baptist Church at Bent. He retained his membership in this church until his death.

Mr. Erp is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ona Stogsdill, Drum and Mrs. Zelma Phelps, Greenwood, Indiana; one son, Elmer Erp, Ruth; three sisters, Mrs. Geotha Meece, Drum, Mrs. Lucinda Mounce, East Somerset, and Mrs. Tabitha VanHook, Upper Sandusky, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services was held Saturday at the Piney Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. A.J. Rider officiating. Burial was in the Piney Grove cemetery.
