Chas. Nowels Passes Away
Resident of Longmont for 22 Years Succumbs After Long and Lingering Illness
Body Will be Brought to Longmont for Burial
Charles Edgar Nowels of Longmont passed away Wednesday night at a Pueblo hospital where he was receiving treatment after an illness of one year and nine months. The deceased at the time of his death was 60 years, 6 months, 7 days old.
Nowels was born in Renssalaer, Ind., Nov. 29, 1867, and came to Colorado 22 years ago. He was employed as foreman of the Donoavan planing mill and was an excellent cabinet maker and woodworker. He retained his position when Mr. Donovan sold his business to J.F. Schwartz.
Two years later he resigned his position with the Schwartz Lumber Co. and established a planing mill and woodworking shop of his own on Kimbark street. He continued in this business until he was forced to give it up on account of failing health.
The deceased, a respected and energetic citizen of Longmont, was a faithful member of the Methodist church and belonged to the local B.P.O. Elks and the W.O.W. lodge.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hattie Nowels, and one son, Raimon Nowels of Longmont; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Jozwick of Greeley; two brothers, Gaylord Nowels of Longmont and Vernon Nowels of Renssalaer, Ind.; six sisters, Mrs. May Witham and Mrs. Bertha Thompson, Renssalaer, Ind.; Mrs. Grace Meyer, Gary, Ind.; Mrs. Lillian Bronson, Denver; Mrs. Ida Cochran, Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Floyd Wheeler, Flora, Md., his mother, Mrs. Riley Nowels of Renssalaer, Ind., and three grandchildren, Frank J., Chas. William and Patricia May Jozwick of Greeley.
The remains will be brought to Longmont Friday morning. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
