He was born Bankras Hoek in June 1851 in the Dutch western province Noord-Holland. He was named after his grandfather Bankiras Hoek.

On June 11, 1855 Bankras Hoek (3 years old), his father Jacob Hoek (34, loafer), his mother Maartje Houtkoop (29) and his sister Trijntje (2) arrived on the schooner Tarolinta at the port of New York, Castle Garden.

In 1860 Bancrage Hock (9) lived with his parents and siblings in the Township of Worth, post office Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois, just south of Chicago, northwest of Thornton Township and west of Calumet Township.

On March 1, 1882 Bancres Hook married in Cook County, Illinois at the age of 30 years the ten years younger Nellie Prins [Prince], born in Lansing, Cook County, Illinois.

On August 14, 1885 they had in Chicago, Cook county, Illinois son William Hook, who died on May 3, 1913 at his home in Chicago, Ward 9-1 at the age of 27 years. He was buried in Thornton, Cook County, just south of Chicago. They had on March 3, 1893 son Benjamin Hook, who died on December 1, 1901 and was buried in the Holland Section of Homewood Memorial Gardens in Thornton Township, just south of Chicago.

In June 1900 Bancres Hook (49 y, born in June 1851 in Holland, day laborer), his wife Nellie (38, May 1862, Illinois), their children Mary (17, February 1883, Illinois), William (15, August 1885, Illinois), Annie (12, August 1888, Illinois) and Jacob (7, March 1893, Illinois) lived at an own home in Calumet Township, West 110th Street, Cook County, Illinois, just south of Chicago.

Engineer Banncres Hook, spouse of Nellie, died in November 1926 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois at the age of 75 years. He was buried in Thornton Cemetery, Cook County, just south of Chicago.
