Joseph was born 11 September in 1875 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He was the youngest child of John Enright and Elizabeth O’Hara. He attended the West Center Public School.

1900 Census Joseph is living at home with his parents and 4 siblings. He is a clerk in a shoe store, no doubt it is his brother John Henry Enright’s shoe store on North Street.

Joseph married school teacher Anna C. Donna on July 25, 1900 in Cheshire, Massachusetts. He was 24, she was 23. The parish priest was Fr. Thomas H. McLaughlin (but not to be confused with the Conneally relative with the exact same name who became the bishop of Paterson, New Jersey).

Anna Donna’s mother was Margaret Irons born in Ireland May 1850, her father was a cooper James Donna born in Ireland Oct. 1845 (died before 1915). James and Margaret Donna were married about 1870. They had 9 children with only 4 living: Katherine Donna b. 1871 a music teacher, Mary Donna b. 1873 a teacher, Anna C. Donna born August 1876 a teacher, and John Donna born Oct. 1883. They lived in Cheshire and then in Adams, Massachusetts.

Joseph and Anna C. Donna Enright had 2 daughters:

• Elizabeth M. Enright 1901-1977, and
• Josephine A. Enright 1913-2002 (born “Anna Josephine”).

1910 Census Wife Anna age 33 born in Massachusetts. Joseph age 34 is a clerk in a shoe store. Renting at 245 East Street, Pittsfield, MA. Married 9 years. Have 1 child age 8 Elizabeth.

1920 Census renting at 65 Elm Street. 44 year old Joseph works as a salesman in a shoe store. Wife Anna age 43. Daughters: Elizabeth 18 not working, Josephine age 6.
In 1928 City Directory, Joseph was a clerk at England Brothers, with his house at 35 Hazelwood Street.

1930 Census Joseph is renting for $40/month at 46 Gordon Street. Joe , 54, is a clerk in a department store. Anna is 53, married 30 years. Elizabeth is a 28 year old public school teacher. Josephine is age 16.

1943 City Directory we see Elizabeth M. Enright teaching at Pittsfield High and living at 291 First Street with her sister. Josephine A. Enright is also a teacher at Pontoosuc Junior High.

OBIT JOSEPH A. ENRIGHT Berkshire Eagle 1930:

“Joseph A. Enright of 42 Gordon Street, died yesterday afternoon after a two months’ illness. He was the son of John and Elizabeth (O’Hara) Enright. He was born in this city and spent all of his life here. He was a shoe salesman and during this long connection with the business had made a host of friends. He was a member of St. Joseph’s church and of the Holy Name Society of that church, also of St. Joseph’s choir.

“The survivors are his wife, Anna Donna Enright, two daughters, Miss Elizabeth, a teacher in the Commercial high school and Miss Josephine, a pupil in the high school; two brothers, Thomas N. of this city, and John H. of New York, and one sister, Mrs. John P. Casey of New Haven.

“The funeral will be held Monday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Joseph’s church with a solemn requiem high mass. Burial will be in the Enright lot in St. Joseph’s cemetery.”
