Sarah was the 3rd daughter of John Enright (1837-1909) and Elizabeth “Betsey” O’Hara (1840-1918).

In November of 1873 Sarah was born into a burgeoning family with six children from ages 12 to 1 ½. Her little brother Joe was born 2 years after Sarah.

Her father, John the carriage striper or painter, lived on the same street as his brothers, Sarah’s Uncles Thomas and Michael Enright. By 1880 there were about 20 Enright cousins running around between houses and yards. Not to forget that Sarah’s paternal Aunt Mary Enright Tierney also lived in Pittsfield with her own 7 children.

Sarah’s mother’s family, the O’Hara’s, also had a boatload of kids. Thus 7 O’Hara aunts and uncles were down on Long Island Sound in Bridgeport, with over 21 first cousins on that side of the family as well.

In 1885, 11 year old Sarah was listed in the Pittsfield School Census record as attending “Center Inter” school with her 13 year old brother James E. Enright, while 9 year old Joseph A. Enright was at “West Center” school.

Sarah did not have an occupation listed in the City Directories or the Census.

She inherited her parents’ house at 302 West Street.
In 1922 Sarah lost the 2 siblings who had lived with her: Mary died in March, then her brother James died in June.

In the City Directory for that year 1922, Ida Thompson Enright, Sarah’s sister-in-law widow of James E. Enright lived with Sarah at 302 West Street.

It wouldn’t be long though, Sarah passed away just 5 years later. She was ill for a few years and died in her sister, Catherine Casey’s, home in New Haven.

OBIT-- MISS SARAH S. ENRIGHT, Berkshire Eagle 1927:
“Miss Sarah S. Enright, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Enright, who until three years ago was a resident of this city, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her sister, Mrs. John P. Casey of New Haven, Conn. She had been ill for some time. She was born in this city and spent the greater part of her life here. She attended St. Mark’s church when she lived in Pittsfield.

“Besides the sister, Mrs. Casey, she is survived by three brothers: Thomas N. [illegible, but must be John H. and Joseph A. Enright].

“The body was brought to the home of her brother Joseph A. Enright of 64 Stratford Avenue this afternoon. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock at Sacred Heart church with a high mass of requiem. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery.”
