TOPINABEE WOMAN DIES

Mrs. Elmon Pierce died yesterday at her home in Topinabee. Death was caused by infirmities of age. She was 80 years old.

She was born in Canada on April 29, 1864. Only known survivors are her husband and a brother, Mr. Lorenz, who lives in Afton.

The body is at the Tuttle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Topinabee Church, Reverend John Lewin will officiate. Burial will be in the Cross Settlement Cemetery.

MRS. ELMAN PIERCE DIES

Mrs. Elman Pierce died May 7th at 1:10 a.m.. Funeral services were held at the Topinabee Church on May 9th at 2:00 p.m. Reverend John Lewin was in charge of the service. Mrs. Thomas Whitehead was the pianist and Mrs. Joseph Fisk sang a solo, "abide with me."

Burial was in the Cross Settlement Cemetery. Mrs. Pierce is the first person to be laid to rest in the new section of the cemetery.

Mrs. Pierce was an active leader and member of the Home Economics Club up until about 9 years ago when she became ill and could not take a part in any outside interest.

She was 80 years old on April 29, 1944. She is survived by three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Barbara Burns, one of the sisters was with Mrs. Pierce for several years, taking care of her. Mrs. Burns will make her home with her brother, Mr. Lorentz at Afton.

The pallbearers for the funeral were Messrs. Henry Linderman, Clem Connors, Charles Kinna, Harry Reynolds, Hugh Connors and Gene Woodmansee.

Topinabee community extends its sympathy to Mr. Pierce in the loss of his wife.

There is no tombstone on this grave. Both Elizabeth Pierce and her husband are buried on Lot 58, but no tombstones exist on either grave.
