Frank Allen Townsend, age 80, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 8:21 am.

Frank was born February 2, 1933, in Amboy IN, to James and Evelyn Sutton-Townsend. It was love at first sight when Frank met his wife, Velma, back in 1954. The two met when Frank was in the Army stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. The couple were married two weeks after meeting and celebrated their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary September 1st.

He loved playing guitar with the Bluegrass Buddies and enjoyed the outdoors, painting, and fishing. Frank will be especially remembered for his love and devotion to his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife Velma of Peru, his four loving children, Jennifer Ream and fiance Stewart Huff, Peru; David (Barb) Townsend Peru; Patrick (Debbie) Townsend Mexico; Beth (Bill) Ballard Springfield, OH. His siblings are: Ruth (Ted) Sopher Peru; Barbara Townsend, Peru; Judy (Alan) Sutton, Peru; Susanna (Bill) Stewart, Peru; Donnie (Ardith) Townsend, Denver; Cathy (Carl) Drake, Peru; Jim (Angie) Townsend, Peru; Joe (deceased) (Virginia) Townsend, Peru.

He was an amazing grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents James and Evelyn Townsend, brothers, Joseph, Gene, and Jackie and sister Shirley.

Services will be held at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home 105 W. 3rd Street Peru. Viewing will be Tuesday, September 24 from 4:pm-8:pm and funeral serviceswill be Wednesday, September 25 at 10.00 am. Officiating will be Pastor Rod Correll.

Burial will take place at the Westlawn Cemetery – Denver, Indiana. Arrangements are entrusted to the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
