One of the Bishop letters in the collection addresses Noah Thomas Alford (apparently he went by Alford): on the trip moving from Missouri to Texas he was kicked in the head by a horse, and they thought this was behind his violent/angry behavior as a teen, it was bad enough whatever the cause that his mother was unable to deal with the problem and he ended up in the insane asylum in San Antonio by 1910, and died there in 1920. He is buried in an unmarked grave on the asylum's grounds.
