Nancy Ann Bishop was born to farmer John Crane Bishop and his wife Mary Ann (or Alice) Grabeel 28 Oct 1883. The family resided in Brodhead, Rockcastle, Kentucky. She was the 4th child of 16: Isaac Newton, John Daniel, James Jonathan, Nancy Ann, Noah Thomas Alford--all born in Kentucky; and Ransom Frank, Sallie (b & d 1890), Gracie (b & d 1891), Sophronia Belle GRABEEL, Theadocia "Docia," Ida May GRABEEL, Virgil Verse, Herber Holbrook--all born in Missouri; and then TWINS George Washington & Mary Ethel, and lastly, Nathan McDowell "Mack"--these 3 born in Cross Plains, Texas. (The Grabeel girls were foster children, given to live with the Bishop family after the loss of their infant daughters and when the Grabeel family moved to Oregon). Nancy undoubtedly worked hard caring for the children and helping with the household chores. She was privileged to have an 8th grade education.
Nancy's father attended Georgia Eclectic Medical College in Atlanta, Georgia, sometime between 1884-1888. The family moved to a pioneer area of Thornfield, Ozark County, Missouri near where her maternal grandparents Isaac and Nancy Grabeel had founded the community of Grabeel, about 1888. Her father Dr. John Crane "J.C." Bishop was the practicing physician in the area. Here was where Nancy Ann's two infant sisters died and were buried, Sallie in May 1890, and Gracie in June 1891.
Nancy's father, Dr. John Crane Bishop ended his practice in Missouri and before 1900, the family had moved to Cross Plains, Texas where Nancy Ann's 3 youngest siblings were born.
15 April 1910 the father Dr. John Crane Bishop passed.

At age 26, Nancy Ann Bishop married 15 August 1910 to Albert William Thompson in Brown, Texas. He was about 10 years older. They became the parents of two daughters, Vera Frances, born in 1912 on Comanche county, Texas, and Mary Dell Thompson, born in 1915 in Alhambra, Los Angelos County, California (?).

1917 World War I Draft Registration Cards has Albert William Thompson registered as a farmer in Riverside County, California.
