Hanson, Sidney

Sidney Rudolf Hanson was born on October 8, 1915 in Nelson, MN to Hans and Ana (Anderson) Hanson. He was confirmed by Pastor Reverend P.E. Ording at Fahlun Lutheran Church and Crooked Lake on July 19, 1931. He graduated from Central High School in Alexandria in 1934 and left for California in 1935.

Sid was united in marriage to Margery Mae Curtis on March 7, 1942. To this union the couple was blessed with four children. Sid worked for his uncle George where he learned carpentry. Later he worked as a general contractor. In 1972 Sid and Margery returned to Minnesota where they were owner and operators of Lake Andrew Resort and Interlocken Shores on Lake Le Homme Dieu. He was a member of the Elks Club, Lions Club where he served as president, and 63 years in the VFW. He also enjoyed volunteering for many years at Knute Nelson. Sid enjoyed vacationing in Maui, HI where Margery and him celebrated his 50th and 60th Anniversary.

Sid died on January 19, 2011 at his home in Alexandria at the age of 95 years.

He is survived by his children, Sharon Rea Last of California; Larry Curtis Hanson of Arizona, Peter Allen Hanson of Colorado, and Patricia Ann Hanson of California.

Memorial service was held on Saturday, January 29, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at Fahlun Lutheran Church in Nelson with Rev. Barbara Lund Thompson officiating.

Burial was at the church cemetery. Military Honors were by American Legion Post 87, VFW Post 936 and MN National Guard.
