James Bagley was born in 1846 to Samuel Badgley and Elizabeth Palmer. He was their eleventh child. He married Eliza Jane Anderson in Madoc, Ontario, Canada on Sept. 12, 1867. To this union were born five children, Effie Jane, Samuel Thomas, William Wesley, George Ainsworth, and little Eliza. When Eliza was born her mother lived but six days, dying from complications of the birth, in Bellwood, Butler, Nebraska. Little Eliza lived for only three months. They are both buried there. James married again on July 4, 1881 to Alice Stafford and had four more children: Mary Ellen, Ivory, a little boy, Vesper and Luella. Alice died in 1890
and James moved back to Canada and married Lucinda Cummings Owen in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Obituary
The death occurred on Tuesday, June 18th, of Mr. James Bagley, at his home on Livingston Street. Deceased had been ailing since last fall. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, three sons and four daughters - Thomas, of Lincoln, Neb,; George, of Miles, Mont,; Owen, of B.C.; Mrs. Snavely of Jarbalo, Kansas; Mrs. Weeks and Mrs. Van Volenberg, of Humboldt; Mrs. Garfield of Winnipeg and Luella of Washington.

Mrs. Bagley has suffered a double bereavement, having received a telegram on Tuesday conveying the sad news of the death of her brother, Mr Owen Cummings of Bellville, Ont.
