After James Bagley's first wife died he married Alice Stafford on July 4, 1881. She was only 16 at the time, the daughter of Albert Johnson Stafford and Anna Eliza Bellows Quite young to take over the responsibility of four children, nevertheless, they were married and Alice became the mother of four more children of her own, Mary Ellen, Ivory, a little boy that died the same time his half brother William Wesley died, Vesper Pearl and little Luella. Alice did not live to see her little ones grow up for on Dec 2, 1890 she passed away. She was laid to rest in the David City Cemetery by her baby boy.
