George Halstead was born July 25, 1860 in Greenwich, Ohio, the last of eight children of Willard Knowles and Jane Hopkins. He had siblings William, Albert, Frank, Jane, Julia, Dora, Armon and two half sisters Mary & Lucy.
George was 31 when he married Florence Townsend on Sep. 7, 1891 in Greenwich and they had two sons listed abpve. He was a merchant in the hardware business.
George was living at 4 S. Kniffin St. when he died on March 29, 1948 at the age of 87 from cardiac failure and is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Lot 237 along with his wife Florence (who died in 1917) and son Earl. George never remarried.
