While in Norway, Govert used the surname Olsen. He married Solveig Emelie Stiansen 6 Dec 1901 in Halsa, Norway and they had 2 children, Borghild and Einar. Solveig died in 1906 and Govert married a second time to Amalia Stallesdatter Opsal on 18 Oct 1907 in Halse. They had six children, the first three born in Norway, two in Minnesota and the last child in Wisconsin: Olga, Gerda, Norman, Jennie, Helen, and Alice. After Govert arrived in the US in 1915, he followed his older brother Olav's practice of using the surname Behrents.
