Ruth Atkins Price, 86, of Collinsville, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at her home.
Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville is in charge of arrangements.

The funeral for Ruth Adkins Price, 86, of Collinsville, who died Aug. 3, 2011, at her home, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fieldale Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Gribble officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Martinsville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville and other times at the home.
She was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Stuart to Thomas Everett Adkins and Sallie Eggleston Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.A. Price; a son, John Thomas Price; and five brothers, Wendell Adkins, Hub Adkins, Dave Adkins, Bill Adkins and Sam Adkins.
She was valedictorian of the class of 1941 at Fieldale High School and attended Perry Business School while working at Harlow's of Fieldale. She was a bookkeeper for Price Wholesale Lighting in Collinsville. She and her husband founded the business, and she worked there until her death.
She was a member of Fieldale Baptist Church, where she was a past Sunday school teacher and longtime member of Circle BWC 9.
Surviving are two daughters, Sally Kelley of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Sandra Leet of Roanoke; a son, David Price of Fork Mountain; a brother, John Adkins of Collinsville; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
