Billy Murphy
ARCOLA — Billy Harold Murphy, 69, of Arcola, died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday (April 7, 1991) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shrader Funeral Home in Arcola with the Rev. Terry Ford officiating. Visitation is 6 to 8:30 p.m. today. Burial is at Arcola Cemetery.
Mr. Murphy was born Dec. 24, 1921, in Marshall, the son of Leonard and Frances (Houchin) Murphy. He married Lotta Campbell on Feb. 7, 1948, in Arcola. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Billy Joe Murphy of Bloomington, Ind.; one brother, Jack Murphy of Friendswood, Texas; and one sister, Jane Ernst of Arcola.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Mr. Murphy was a member of the Arcola First Christian Church, where he served as a trustee. He also was a member of the Arcola Masonic Lodge. He was a retired employee of the U.S. postal service, where he was a rural mail carrier. He also was a veteran of World War II.
Memorials may be made to the Arcola First Christian Church.
