Lotta Murphy
ARCOLA — Lotta L. Murphy, 82, of Arcola, died at 1:25 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital near Mattoon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Rev. Harold Williamson officiating. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Murphy was born Nov. 10, 1921 in Chesterville, the daughter of Allen and Kathryn Kruger Campbell. She married Billy Murphy in Arcola on Feb. 7, 1948; he preceded her in death on April 7, 1991.
Survivors include her son, Billy J. Murphy and wife Dianne of Arcola; granddaughter, Lauren Murphy; brother-in-law, Raymond McDowell of Danville, Indiana; and sister-in-law, Jane Ernst of Arcola. She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Don Campbell and 1 sister, Rosemary McDowell.
Mrs. Murphy was a 1939 graduate of Arcola High School and also graduated from a business college in Decatur. She helped her father at the elevator in Chesterville for many years. She was a member of the Arcola First Christian Church where she served as organist for many years, and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Memorials are suggested to the Arcola First Christian Church Organ Fund or Window Fund; or the Arcola Public Library Building Fund.
