Last Rites Friday For Lorenz A. Gast
Funeral services will be held from the St. James Catholic Church Friday at 9:30 a.m. for Lorenz A. Gast, who died at his home at 311 Hamilton street Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
The Rev. Peter J. Roebrocks, pastor, will conduct the final rites, and will also be in charge of the Rosary service at Seydler Funetal home Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. Burial will take place in the St. James Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Gast was born in Germany on September 12, 1885, to John and Mary Schuman Gast, both natives of Germany. A retired carpenter, he had lived in this country since he was one an a half years of age.
On October 27, 1910, he and Miss AlbinaSimcik were married. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church and of the KJT Lodge of Praha.
Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Paul, Emil, and Frank all of Gonzales; Leroy of Bandera; David of Houston; Victor of Pasadena; Jimmie of the U. S. Army, Germany; four daughters, Mrs. A. J. (Annie) Podpisil, Flatonia; Mrs, James (Rosie) Johnson, Austin; Mrs. Leo (Stella) Baker, Gonzales; and Mrs. A. L. (Martha) Callaghan, San Antonio. Another son, Anton, died in May 1954.
Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Rosie Jelek of San Antonio; and Mrs. Mary Raab of Shiner.
