D. C. Stevens, 75, died this morning at 6:30 o'clock following a lingering illness. He was born in 1875 in Stafford County and had lived in the county all his life. He was a farmer.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Victoria Stevens; a son, Frank Stevens, of Stafford; a foster-son [and nephew], French Allen, of Fredericksburg; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Emma Wilson, of Spotsylvania County, and a brother, John Stevens, of Canton, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at New Hope Methodist Church in Stafford County, of which he was a member since boyhood, at 2 o'clock Wednesday, with burial in the family cemetery near the church. Services will be conducted by the Rev. W. H. Gray.
The following stewards of the church will be active pallbearers: Lloyd Jett, Dallas Young, Frank Sullivan, Vernon Shelton, G. W. Sullivan and Isaac Silver.
Honorary pallbearers will be C. W. Stone, Charles Burzio, N. N. Berry, Isaac Silver, W. T. Peyton, Willie Deacon, Leonard Newton, Willie Edwards, Emmett Ballard, Henry Bourne and Bowie Young.
