Joan Elizabeth Ousley, 80 years old, of Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri died August 1, 1916 at her home and was buried August 4, 1916 in Longview Cemetery.

Joan Elizabeth "Betsy" Ousley, of Cole County, Missouri, died August 1, 1913 at her home.

She was born in 1838, in Franklin County, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Rachel (Larimore) Williams.

Joan was married by A.C. Lampton J.P. to Elijah Benton Ousley on February 3, 1857 in Morgan County.

Elijah and Joan had one daughter, Rachel Minerva, she was married to Alfred Green Baker and had one son, Thomas Martin Eli Ousley. Alfred was the editor of the Versailles Leader Newspaper. Elijah and Joan went to visit their son in Harleyville, Oklahoma. Elijah became ill and later died there. He is buried in Hartshorne, Pittsburg, Oklahoma.

Elijah was born in Iowa and came to Morgan County, Missouri with his parents in 1837 and was raised on his fathers farm southwest of Syracuse, Missouri. Elijah was elected Sexton of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in December 1878. Elijah also served as Associate Delegate and Moderator Pro Tem. Their home was near the church.
