Rachel Williams was born in 1813, in Madison County, Kentucky, the daughter of Richard and Rachel (McDaniel?) Laramore and the granddaughter of Philimon (Philip) Laramore. Her parents were born in Maryland and migrated through North Carolina to Kentucky.

Her family moved to Franklin County, Missouri when she was an infant.

She was united in marriage to Joseph Williams on May 15, 1832 in Franklin County, Missouri by Joseph's Uncle, Reverend Lewis Williams. They settled first in Howard County and then in Morgan County. To this union nine children were born. They are:

Andrew Jackson Williams-born March 10, 1833 in Franklin County and died October 5, 1909 in Versailles. He married Elizabeth Morrison.

John Lewis Williams-born May 1835, in Missouri, and died July 25, 1909 in Morgan County. He was married to Lavina Adair on January 9, 1854 in Morgan County.

Joan Elizabeth Williams-born in 1838. She married Eliza Benton Ousley in 1857.

Alvin "Alvy" Peter Williams-born in 1840. He married Margaret Elliott in 1860.

William Francis Williams-born in 1844. He married Louisa Morrison in 1863.

Thomas Benton Williams-born in 1847 and died in 1925. He married Martha Ellen Fisher.

James Williams-born 1851.

Richard Williams-born 1841. He married Louisa Cox in 1865.

Joseph McClure Williams-born 1855. He married Rebecca Ann Smith in 1872.

Rachel died in 1880 and Joseph died March 1, 1894. They are buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Versailles.
