FAMILY HISTORY:

Joseph McClure Williams was born March 10, 1855, near Mount Carmel Church, in Morgan County, Missouri. Joseph was the son of Joseph and Rachel (Laremore) Williams.

He was united in marriage to Rebecca Ann Smith on September 6, 1872 in Morgan County, Missouri. The ceremony was performed by Amas Fowler J.P. of Morgan County. Rebecca was born April 25, 1859, the daughter of Zachariah and Elizabeth (Laremore) Smith. Rebecca died February 10, 1903 in Sedalia.

Joe lived in Versailles and had liverly stables and was also a farmer. He was a night watchman and also served two or three terms as a Deputy Sheriff.

Joe was a brother of Andrew Jackson Williams and an uncle of Sheriff W.J. Williams of Versailles. He was also an Uncle of Lize O. Williams, a merchant of Gravois Mills. He was the father of James A. Williams who lives on Henry Carson Farm.

Joseph died of liver cancer on July 9, 1921 in Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri. Rebecca died February 10, 1903 in Sedalia. Burial for Joseph and Rebecca was in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morgan County.

Joseph and Rebecca had two children, James L. Williams who survives and an infant who only lived for a few hours.

Joseph McClure Williams, 66, of 1601 Osage, Sedalia, died July 9, 1921 at his home.

Dr. O.W. Albaugh, of Sedalia, prononced death caused by Cancer of the Liver. The informant was Mrs. J.M. Williams of Sedalia, daughter-in-law of the deceased.

Arrangements were under the care of Gillegen Funeral Home in Sedalia. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morgan County.
