Mrs. Harshman was a long time member of the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren serving the church in many ways including as a deacon, a member of the choir, and was very active in the women's fellowship. She was Charter Secretary for the New Market Fire Company's Women's Auxiliary. In her free time she enjoyed sewing and nee- dlework. She was a leader for 15 years of the Green Valley girl's 4-H sewing club and also volunteered a num- ber of years at the Great Frederick Fair chairing the cake sale for the 4-H. She was also a member of the New Market Homemakers Club. Mrs. Harshman worked as an election judge for the New Market voting district. She will be remembered as a hard working farmwife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Harshman is sur- vived by her children, H. David Harshman, Jr. and wife Patricia, Ronald Harshman and wife Linda, Gareth Harshman and wife Anna, Charles Harshman and wife Joann, and Melissa A. Burke and husband Terry, all of Mt. Airy, grand- children, Jeffrey and Leslie Harshman, Christie, Kimberly and Gaylen Harshman, Elizabeth Snyder, Monica Bollinger, Jody and Bryant Harshman, and Sue Hoff, Amy Jo Poffenberger and Gina Airing, and Megan, Rebecca and Emma Burke and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Harshman is additionally survived by siblings, Ira Brandenburg and wife Peggy, Gloria McFadyen, Norman Brandenburg and wife Margie, and Martha Norwood and husband Otis and by her brother-in-law Thomas Payne. She is additionally survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Harshman is pre- ceded in death by her siblings, Upton Brandenburg and wife Betty, Marshall Brandenburg and wife Kathleen , Mary Covell and husband Jonathan, Barbara Payne, and an infant sister Betty Jane Brandenburg, a foster brother Pierce Thompson and wife Dorothy and brother-in-law Bruce McFadyen.
