Norman Edward Brandenburg, age 77 of Urbana, died on Friday, November 25, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Margaret (Williams) Brandenburg. Born on November 16, 1939 in Urbana, he was the son of the late Charles T. and Carrie (Plunkard) Brandenburg.

Mr. Brandenburg was a graduate of Frederick High School. He was a carpenter by trade, later retiring from his work at Montgomery College in Germantown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Michael E. Brandenburg and his wife Cindy of Ijamsville, by his daughter Laura P. Rosencrantz and her husband Bayard of Urbana, his step grandson Jason Gates and his wife Erin of Rockville, and his grandson Andrew Rosencrantz of Urbana. He is also survived by his brother Ira Brandenburg of Clarksburg, his sisters Gloria McFadyen of Adamstown, Martha Norwood of Frederick and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Upton and Marshall Brandenburg and sisters Mary Covell, Edythe Harshman and Barbara Payne.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 10 AM. Pastor Bob Ruggieri will officiate. The interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Monrovia.
